Life After
Death... Most who hear those words think of the "supernatural."
Those who have suffered the loss of a loved one are aware that those
words carry a far different meaning. For us, life after death begins
the moment our loved one takes their last breath.
With that
last breath, we are thrown into a world and a life that is unimaginable
to us. Death robs us not only of a loved one; it also robs us of
everything that was normal in our lives. Our worlds are turned upside
down and life as we knew it ceases to exist. We are filled with
a gut-wrenching pain that we believe will be with us forever. We
are confused, overwhelmed, wracked in grief and convinced that life
can never be good again. We come here and listen to people who have
started to heal, and think that maybe our love was different, that
maybe we loved more than most. We are sure that life can never been
good for us again. We are all wrong. Here at HealingAfterLoss.Org,
you will learn that it really is possible to live again, to laugh
again.
Welcome
to HealingAfterLoss.Org. The fact that you're here means that you
have lost a loved one, and though we welcome you with open arms,
we also wish that you never had to find us. We wish places like
this didn't have to exist. Unfortunately the need for grief support
is very real. With that being said, we welcome you to what we call
"The best place you never wanted to be."
HALO is
a peer grief support group consisting of people who really do understand.
We are not professionals. Our "expertise" lies in the fact that
we have all lost a loved one. We have experienced grief firsthand,
and understand that this IS survivable. We are simply "friends helping
friends" through the devastation of grief. We are here to help,
and to give hope to those who believe there is none.
There is
a saying, "Death is not a period, rather a comma in the book of
life." At HALO, you will be able to pause" and deal with your grief.
No one will tell you it's time to move on. We know that grief has
it's own timetable and that timetable is different for everyone.
We know that grief has no rules, no rhyme or reason. HALO provides
a safe environment where it is ok to strip off the mask we wear
in the outside world and talk about our feelings with those who
understand.
Grief
knits two hearts in closer bonds than happiness ever can; and common
sufferings are far stronger links than common joys. ~ Alphonse de
Lamartine
